I have a bassani x-pipe that was purchased for my 99 Coupe but never installed. My intent was to install it on the Z06 but after driving it for awhile I'm wondering if there is any benefit? The Z06's exhaust just sounds smoother than the 99 did, as if it's flowing better already.

Anyone install an x-pipe yet and have any comments?

I have the Corsa X-pipe on order from Exit-28. I ordered the B&B shorty headers at the same time so I thought I would "just do it". I too am not sure of any benefit. My Z06 does not have the idle burble or deceleration popping that I have read about. At least it's not that bad. I think it is because the H pipe section is the same diameter as the flow pipes. I have crawled under it only once so far and I think that is the case. What do some of you think?

Anyway, if you are unsure, wait and see what others report. I'll post when I get mine installed later this month.

Unless I'm wrong only the rear exhaust section is titanium and the bassani just bolts-up to the rear section. The only cutting involved is on the stainless center exhaust section and shouldn't be a problem.

I'm just wondering if there is any HP/Torque benefit to installing. If not, I'll sell the bassani crossover. I take it no one has installed an x-pipe on a Z06 yet?

I was told by the Corsa guys that the Z06 has a larger crosspipe section from the factory, from 5/8" to 2"...maybe true on all 2001's. They are doing install on my Z06 at the BB middle of this month, Indy's with Pro Tips...told me to save my $$$ on the Crossover as they feel it is not needed.

I can only faintly hear decel popping and that's not all of the time either. To me it sounds perfect. I've heard a lot of folks wanting to change the sound of their exhaust but honestly, I'd prefer a quieter one. The only reason I'd change it would be for added HP.

A question... what HP gains have you seen on replacing the stock exhaust system? I mean dyno'd measurements... not what you were told you'd get.

Thanks,
Alex

The real benifit of most of the bolt on mods are more than suspect in my mind. Even if mesured on the dyno or drag strip. There are so many variables on any given day of testing. I believe most of the people that are posting are honest but arent concidering everything. I am only interested in real repeatable performance and it's just not showing up with on track preformance. Ric,

I have to agree with you. Show me all the dyno results you want, but I want to see repeatable track results!! Dynos have too many variables.

When I visited Katech last week, they told me that any engine they shipped west of the Mississippi automatically gained 20 HP and any engine shipped South automatically loss 20 HP. It is an industry joke!!

HP ratings sell...but they don't really mean anything!! Results is the ticket!! )
