The Z06 with its weight advantage will beat a ZR1 that is making close to the same rwhp. The DRM ZR1 chip probably gave it several more hp than stock and the Z06 did not have a custom program. Still, the trap speed tells much.

Had a 94 Z #100....Great car. The new Z will beat it in every area other than 3-4 mph at top speed, if you have 3 miles to open up....A well driven z06 will et in the 12:50 range...awesome...But shave 350 lbs off the zr1, put the new tires on it and look out.....

If you want EXOTIC get a Ferrari 360 Modena, personally the Corvette is the best sports car out there, especially the ZO6. PERIOD

I own a ZR-1 and would give it up if I must to buy a Z06. The one used in that article must have been more seriously modified than they would like to admit, so what's the pt. Any car can be made a whole lot better than stock given enough money invested to make more HP. The only fair comparison would be a shootout of a "stock" ZR-1 vs. Z06 also stock. I think we can expect a lot of similar articles in the coming year in many of the buff mags. It's only natural to compare Z06 to the ZR-1 and many journalist definitely will in those articles.
