ZO6 Decision

How long did it take everyone to decide on purchasing a ZO6, whether it was a 01' or an 02'?

Originally, I had decided on buying a 01' Torch Red coupe with Torch Red interior. After I finished putting all of the options that I wanted on it, which included the 1SC package, BSM's, high polished rims, both the color matched and the glass top, and the 6 speed transmission, this C5 coupe was at almost $47K. It only had 350HP and 375 FT/LBS. of Torque. I originally liked the lines of the coupe, especially the fastback design but the ZO6 lines kind of grew on me.

Lucky for me, the dealer had sold the car without letting me know because it took over 20 weeks for them to tell me that the car was finally at the dealership.

I guess that that was the biggest blessing because all of those weeks of waiting for the C5 made me want the ZO6 a lot more.

Price wise, it was only a difference of about $4K.

Well, after thatbad experienc with a dealer, my confidence with dealerships went straight down the drain. This caused me to wait a while before ordering my ZO6.

I then started hearing rumors about the 02' ZO6 which prompted me to wait a little bit longer before ordering the ZO6.

Finlly, on June 20th, the rumors finally became a reality and I sure am glad that I waited until now to order this car.

So, what made you decide on gettng the ZO6?

I had not had a Vette since 1968. I had owned my previous car for 5 years (1996 Viper GTS) and was getting tired of the discomfort level and lack of space, when I read a review of the Z06 in Car and Driver. I pondered about 2 weeks, and sold the Viper to a guy from New Orleans after ordering, and confirmed that I would get the Z06.

I paid no out of pocket money after selling the 5 year old Viper to get a brand new car. To be honest, the Z06 is a lot better car than the Viper in all respects but one, straight line acceleration. For those of you lusting after a Viper, save your money. You would be greatly disappointed after owning the Z06.

That's the same question that I ask all of my friends that are constantly drooling over the Viper.
I don't see any justified reason for picking the much more expensive Viper over the ZO6. I also have driven the Viper and I feel that it is extremely uncomfortable and the transmission is kind of a pain in the ass. On te other hand, the ZO6 is the perfect sports cr in my eyes.
Except for the seats....and the audio system....an the oil consuption, which is supposedley being fixed for the 02' ZO6.

What is wrong with the seat and audio? I haven't used a drop of oil in 5,100 miles.

I think the seat is great and the stereo is just fine. Of course that is just my opinion. /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif

I went to the dealer this last weekend with the intent to buy a coupe. He had the black coupe and the Z06 side by side in the showroom. I was talking with the owner, and he flat asked me what I would offer to take the Z06. I said $500 over invoice and he took it! Talk about fate!

I think your fate was a matter of timing. there should be some Z06's in the hands of dealers in a few weeks. Good for you on making a good deal. What color? /phpBB/images/smiles/icon_smile.gif
