i would like to know myself i kind of like this set up i saw it the other day and couldnt belive my eyes.....17 inch e.t. streets .....?????thats cool...

 

I have ordered the 8.5" X 17" Z06 repro wheels they make for the F-Body.
The MT ET Streets call for a 9" X 17" wheel and they do work well with the stock 9.5" but since I am buying a wheel just for the ETs I went for the 8.5 vs. the 9.5".
Brian of Corvette Concepts has been using the 9.5s with his ETs and imeddiately brought his 60's down from the low 1.8s high 1.7s to the mid 1.6s. He was using 17" nitto and bfg DRs before.
I'm paying 179.00 each for the ETs at a local speed shop.

I have the 17in ET Streets mounted on OEM fronts and there are no problems. My best 60ft. was 1.88 w/F1s and now is 1.64 w/ETs, running 11lbs. psi. and launching at 59-6000rpm. The car hooks at the track. On the steet, it is still dependant on the surface type. The tires fit the wheel perfectly.

For very light, on the street cruising only, can these tires be driven? I've run DR's for the past year, and recently purchased new street tires, so I'd like to have a set of track tires I could also occassionally run on the street for some back road fun with buddies. Are these tires too unpredictable? :cheers:

 

The DBK, depends what you mean by unpredictable. I run mine on the street if I know I'm going to need them, if you know what I mean. I run 30lbs. psi until it's time to get serious then drop the pressure to 11. At 30, they are decent handling i.e. they track straight, but still have some noticeable sidewall roll. At 11lbs. you will need to concentrate on keeping the car going straight as the sidewall flex is pretty extreme=very good for drag racing, VERY bad for corners. I had BFG G-force DRs previously and I prefer the cheater slicks for basic everyday driving IF there at 30lbs. For a drag strip tire on 17s they are unequaled, imho. You'll never get the handling of the F1s no matter what tire you swap into the back (assuming a mismatch front to rear). but I will definitely replace the ET Streets with the same when necessary. I definitely will not by another BFG. Hope this helps.

 

That's exactly what I wanted to know Amerkin :cheers: I don't mind running the DR's at all, so it looks like for what I use them for the ET streets will rock. Now with the new street tires I can afford to have full on race tires. :coo:
