What is a "tubbed" Corvette?

A tub is used to extend the rear wheel well inward so you can run a much larger wheel and tire combo without having them stick out beyone the quarter panels. If you open your trunk you'll see the two humps on either side where the wheel wells are. People will extend those inward by like 2 inches so they car run 335 or 345 width tires and have them sit under the car properly. Without a mini-tub a 335 tire will stick out about 1/4 of an inch.

Tubbing usually involves narrowing the distance between the rear fender wells, allowing for the installation of wider tires without having them stick out past the fender lip or rubbing inside. There was a thread on this site a while back about the installation of a "mini-tub" modification which I believe allowed the owner to install 335 tires on the rear. If you do a search for tub or mini-tub you'll probably find it. There were some good photos along with the post.

I bought the LPE kit for about $600.00 and had my guys do a perfect install job for about $700.00

The LPE kit consists of 2 new fiberglass inner liners and 2 plastic outer liners. Fits great and looks like stock.

Fikse wheels are 12x18 and the additional 1 1/2" on the wheels and a tad more on the 335x30x18 tires fits perfect. All of the increased width goes inside and the outside edge of the tire remains in the "stock" position. You can only go inbound 2" because beyond 2" the frame will stop you;)

Andy Green of A&A Corvettes charges approximately $1,000.00 and makes the parts out of fiberglass. Rebs in the San Fernando Valley(Kalifornia) also charges about $1,000.00 and makes their own parts. They need your car for about a week and have a waiting list of about 3 months in their fabrication department.
I think Andy can do it in a day or two and you may be able to get in sooner.....this is what's happening in So. Cal.
